National air emission inventory

An emission inventory is a dataset (expressed in kilotonnes per year) of air pollutants at the national level over a specific period. It is a tool for air quality assessment. Since 2016, the MoEPP has formed a team to compile air pollutant emission inventories.

Emission calculations use input data called activity rates (e.g. fuel consumption, product quantities), by sector, listed in the Informative Inventory Report (link).

Emission factors used for pollutant estimates are taken from the EMEP/EEA Guidebook 2023.

The inventory covers:

More details about the share of different emission sources in individual pollutants can be found on the page for Air Emission Sources

The inventories are updated annually for the period 1990 to (n-2), where n is the current year, and submitted by February 15 to EEA and the UN Secretariat.
